Goodbye BookBlast, Hello Sapphic September!

What a week.

The 3rd Annual LGBTQIA+ BookBlast has officially come to an end, and I want to send a gigantic thank you to every reader who showed up, shared the event, filled their e-readers, and took a chance on a new-to-you author.

These events only work because readers show up for queer books, and you absolutely did.

I hope somewhere among all those covers you found a new author, a new favorite character, or one of those books you immediately start recommending to everyone within shouting distance.

While the official BookBlast sale has ended, I’ll be leaving the BookBlast pages up through September 1. Some participating authors are still running their sale prices, so if there was a book you meant to grab, it is worth taking one last wander through the lists.

And to everyone who participated in this year’s event, whether you bought one book or twenty, shared a post, told a friend, or simply spent some time browsing queer stories:

Thank you.

Now, shall we talk about MORE BOOKS?

New Release Radar

This week’s New Release Radar contains two books occupying completely different ends of the queer-literature universe.

Do you want snowed-in sapphic tension?

Or blood-soaked gothic horror?

Good news. We contain multitudes around here.

House Sitters by Quinn Blackwell

Alex has exactly one plan: spend two quiet weeks alone in a mountain house.

Dani doesn’t particularly believe in plans. Or staying anywhere long enough to become attached.

Neither woman expects to arrive at the house and discover that the homeowners have accidentally hired two house sitters.

Now they’re stuck sharing one roof, one wine cellar, and an increasingly unreliable internet connection while a storm slowly buries the only road out.

What begins as a wary truce over bacon and green smoothies becomes something neither woman can quite blame on the wine after the second bottle.

And then the power goes out.

One fireplace.

One blanket.

Two women who have become exceptionally good at avoiding the things they actually want.

You can probably see where this is going. 👀

Our Crimson Cage by Ladz

And now we are changing the vibes COMPLETELY.

Laura Toperz expects a perfectly ordinary week while her husband is away.

She does not expect to solve a murder.

Meanwhile, Elżbieta, the newly hired maid in the wealthy Toperz household, sneaks into the manor’s forbidden basement searching for treasure.

Instead, she discovers something starving, solitary, and desperate to be released.

Her name is Karmila.

And Laura remembers her.

Karmila was the bloodthirsty woman who comforted Laura when she was young. The woman her late father insisted was nothing more than an imaginary friend.

Except now Karmila is free.

As sanguinary terror and lustful frenzy descend upon the town, Laura must decide what she is willing to sacrifice to restore peace and contain the horror that escaped under her watch.

Gothic horror readers, this one might have your name written all over it.

Preferably in blood.

And Now… Sapphic September!

BookBlast may be finished, but September apparently looked at our TBRs and said, “You thought you were done?”

Sapphic September begins September 1!

This is genuinely one of my favorite times of the year.

For the entire month, we get to celebrate sapphic stories, talk about the books we love, discover new authors, resurrect old favorites, and inevitably add far more books to our TBRs than any reasonable human being could read in thirty days.

Around Year of Queer Lit, we’ll be celebrating one sapphic book every single day throughout September.

Romance. Fantasy. Mystery. Classics. Indie books. Traditionally published books. Books you’ve probably seen everywhere and hopefully a few you’ve never encountered before.

Thirty days.

Thirty sapphic books.

An absolutely unreasonable amount of reading temptation.

Exactly how we like it.

So tell me in the comments:

What book are you most excited to read this Sapphic September?

Because my TBR is already beyond reasonable capacity, and naturally I would like all of you to make it worse.

Happy reading,
